Reproductive Freedom for All Responds to Senate Continuing Resolution Vote
Washington, DC — Last night, the US Senate voted to advance a continuing resolution (CR) that will restore government funding, but fails to address the republican-created health care crisis.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:
“Let’s be clear about what happened here: Donald Trump and congressional republicans shut down the government, and then used the most vulnerable people among us as bargaining chips so they could raise health care costs for millions of Americans. This is a new low, even for this administration. We are grateful to the congressional democrats who fought to defend our health care and the dignity of our friends and neighbors.
As this fight for our health care continues, any attempts by congressional republicans and their anti-abortion allies to use this process to further attack access to abortion must be a red line for democrats. ‘Negotiating’ on our reproductive freedom is unacceptable, and we will hold every elected official accountable who refuses to defend our fundamental rights.”
